We want praise and recognition from others because we want to belong. But when belonging becomes conditional, things get ugly- not just in the external world, but in our inner worlds as well.
Society tells us everything it needs us to have to keep itself alive and thriving: money, love, knowledge, power and a myriad of other things.
The process of accumulating these things in the way society tells us to makes it practically impossible to ever get to ourselves because we’re so busy fulfilling our social roles.
If we constantly follow society’s agenda rather than what is true to our hearts, a certain rift begins to open and widen that slowly and progressively separates us from ourselves. Left unchecked, that rift can leave us not knowing who we are or why we came here in the first place…
